Some Peace Corps friends and I will meet at the Ghana Cafe to retell wonderful memories of Ghana and to taste our favorites from the good old days in West Africa. We know that we will be greeted with famous Ghanaian hospitality.

I am FuFull thanks to Ghana Cafe

I enjoyed my first taste of Ghanian cuisine with a Kenyan beer. Anthony, the manager, was great to talk to while I was waiting for my friends to meet me. Posted at the bar are currency from each African nation. He told me the story of the Rwandan note and it just goes to show you that in DC you are bound to meet anybody. I give my full recommendation and will be back.

Salaams and Thanks!

Felt like home

I have not been to Ghana but have been to other places in Africa and was feeling nostalgic for food and music from the motherland. I went to Ghana Cafe and was very pleased with the warm friendly service and the good food. It even encouraged me to plan a trip to Ghana on my next travels to the continent.

Posted by Grace 5/13/2010
My friend and I - both Africans, want to visit but he is interested in dancing to Zaire music. Could you please let me know what type of music the DJ plays and if I can bring my own CDs and request one or two or may be three be played? Thanks Looking forward to hearing from you. Grace

I am new to D.C., having just graduated college and accepted a job here. I am a Naija gal, and whenever I come to Ghana Cafe there is always a warm, welcoming, peaceful vibe. The food is delicious. Drinks are strong. Music is jamming. Crowd is delightful. And the African men are gorgeous--most of the time. This is definitely me favourite hang out spot in the Capital. Feels like home.

I was born in Long Island but I lived in Ghana for 6 years from when I was 6-12. I haven't been back in 10 years. I live in CA. I miss the food so much and I am going to make a special trip to savor ALL the food I grew up eating. Those of you in the D.C. area are lucky =)

Best D.C. Restaurant

This is definitely my favorite place from college (Go GW!) and the best in DC. The Jollof Rice, Plantains, and Goat Curry are fantastic! Wash them all down with a delicious Tusker. I can't wait to go when I get back down.

Yes i did have the best time last summer, listening to Deejay Chick, Deejay Bosco and the famous "Kleen Cut Band" playing in the weekends.. I would advise anyone who wants to feel like in the islands while having the feet in DC to check it out.

Nice chill spot

Ghana Cafe is a great place to go and immerse yourself in some cultural atmosphere. The drink prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. On Saturdays especially after 11pm the plce is really jumping. The cover is normally very low. Upstairs offers a great alternative for going to a club and dancing.
